Thanks for contacting us about a work trade position with Green Path Herb School. We believe everyone should have access to excellent herbal information. For this reason, we offer a lot of free botanical information, including our YouTube channel, years of articles and recipes on our blog, free herbal books and downloads, and free herbal classes.

We are looking for a self-motivated and responsible individual for our student work trade position. The student needs to have good communication skills, be a team player, be enthusiastic and self-motivated, and work well by themself. They must be able to work comfortably on their feet and safely lift up to 50 lbs. Depending on the program applied for, work would be approximately 1-3 hours a week. Generally, unless someone has a special long-distance skill (such as social media or computer work), work trade students need to live around the Missoula area.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Communicating clearly and regularly with the school staff.

  • Keeping track of your hours worked.

  • Cleaning the school, including doing dishes every day after classes are over, cleaning up after medicine-making classes, and cleaning the school once a week.

  • Gardening, painting, and landscaping at both the school and Elaine and John’s home. You will need to bring your own gardening gloves, trowel, and garden snips.

  • Other potential projects could include computer work, flyering, paperwork, social media, etc.

General Expectations:

  • Students are expected to clean up after themselves, including cleaning and putting away all tools, cleaning supplies, dishes, office supplies, etc.

  • Students are expected to arrive on time for workdays and work the hours agreed upon.

  • Students are expected to focus on their work at hand. This is not an appropriate time to text or be on your screen. Listening to music, podcasts, books on tape, etc., is fine.

  • Do you have an area of expertise such as massage, cooking, computer skills, or handyperson skills? We are always open to professional trades as well!

Interviews: We have found that not everyone is a good fit for the work trade position. For this reason, we interview potential work trade candidates by having them complete a day of work for us. In this way, we can see if we work well together and would make a good match! Please contact us early to start this process, as the interviews are conducted first come first served.

Date to Start: The first week of school is the usual start date. Students may start earlier to get some hours completed if there is work available.

Trade Amount: Generally, we offer 25% of our program as work trade at $18.00 an hour. Unless other plans are agreed to, all work needs to be completed in its entirety before the end of the program. The student will only receive their certificate after all work hours are complete.

We also offer a limited number of scholarships for our larger programs. You can find out more about how to apply for a scholarship, and if you fit the criteria, here.
